WRINKLE BRONZE PITCH DROP STOOL Ø15" x H17"
WRINKLE
The Pitch Drop series was born from a project that required research into Newtonian and Non Newtonian fluid dynamics. The characteristics of various fluids tested for the project sparked a fascination with all things viscus, such as asphaltum (pitch), honey, mayonnaise, glycerin and transparent gravy to name a few. The artist has casually been discussing the idea of the "drip" ever since. The pieces presented in this series are the results of our explorations into the realm of these ideas and an homage to the Pitch drop experiment started in 1927 by Professor Parnell, still ongoing, where only nine drops have fallen from the sample of pitch.
A bronze casting using a traditional investment process. Completely hand filed by the Maestro using techniques and tools specific to organic rendering of foundry castings. No machines or sandpaper were used to develop the final pattern on the piece.
