The Totemic Table 1(1) is a pendant chandelier with one paper shade and one diamond (August 12, one Diamond).
Totemic is Andrea Claire Studio’s latest lighting collection. Across cultures, totems serve as vessels of meaning, passed through generations, embodying community, continuity, and transformation. With Totemic, Andrea reflects on over a decade of exploration and innovation in her studio. This collection is an evolution of technique, and distills the studio’s artistic and technical strengths into a cohesive lighting system. The collection continues the studios process of merging traditional craftsmanship with advanced technology. Hand-drawn sketches are turned to 3D renderings, and the structural elements are laser and/or 3D printed. They are assembled, sanded, and finished by hand with Korean mulberry bark paper.
The paper shades come in two sizes and three forms: Moon, Sage, and August. Each is named to evoke layered meaning and gentle familiarity. The brass is accented with diamond-shaped beads that catch and refract light like jewelry.
